How is the role of IT and AV in real estate changing? Have a look at our infographic depicting the importance of timing with regard to new technology...
The challenge with any real estate relocation or refurbishment decision, is getting the timing right to plan for and integrate the IT and AV that will enable the new ways of working desired.
The decisions on taking space in a new building have traditionally been taken by senior level executives based on the location and look and feel of the space. The property itself is the driving force and the subsequent decision making on the future workspace is a linear process that over time sequentially dictates the interior design, fit out, the furniture options and finally, the technology. It sounds logical enough.
But this is not how the more insightful companies are doing it any more.
The progressive organisations out there have come to realise the restrictions in such a sequential approach to workplace relocation. This meaning, that a decision to move taken solely based on the location itself without sufficient IT and AV workplace due diligence and planning early in the construction, can result in far-reaching issues and delays with making the building user-ready that had not been accounted for in the build.
Our Clients and Partners are realising that technology now underpins the Built Environment. It is no longer dictated by it. With such a strategic approach, the driving forces within workplace strategy can be dealt with concurrently and fluidly, enabling informed and agile decision making to be built into the project.
Above all, progressive property strategy should be simple and intuitive and will deliver an improved workplace experience through technology and the processes and environment that surround it.
What’s your approach to the real estate technology challenge?
